Diaspora Yeshiva Toras Israel
Mount Zion, Jerusalem
Israel
Shalom U'Bracha,
We today have
merited to witness an increasing and overpowering thirst for Torah
and spirituality. The sounds of Torah learning heard throughout the
land of Israel attest to the many returning to the wellsprings of
Judaism.
The DIASPORA
YESHIVA TORAS ISRAEL on Mt. Zion opens its doors to those who seek
a deeper understanding of their heritage and provides these students
with a warm home.
I remember when
the site of our ancient Temple was in foreign hands and Jerusalem,
the holy city was divided. Mt. Zion was then the closest point we
could get to the Western Wall thereby serving as a place of prayer,
connecting us to our past glory. How fitting for the Diaspora Yeshiva
to be located at this site, strengthening the bond between Torah and
the land of Israel.
Thousands of
students from all over the world are continuing the chain of our tradition,
thanks to your dedicated efforts. These students provide testimony
to the success of your institution, and for this I bless you.
I end with a
prayer, that the Creator grant you the strength to continue your great
mission for the honor and glory of Torah.
With the blessings
of the Torah,
Sincerely yours,
Israel Meir Lau
Chief Rabbi of
Israel
